Extractivism

An economic value system that sacrifices the indwelling value of existence—matter, human and other-than-human— to produce profit. The operations of Extractivism include: the violent removal of resources from the Earth; the theft of labor from under-valued or enslaved human beings; the appropriation of culture without the appropriate exchange of respect, attribution, and compensation; and the financialization of ecosystems, which reduces life to its value on the capitalist market.
