Food System

A way of looking at food for human populations that considers the full cycle of how food is produced, marketed, packaged, transported, consumed and then transformed to waste or recycled as compost. Seeing the full system in which the food each of us consumes is embedded allows to consider is enmeshed with and thus impacts other systems both local and global– natural ecosystems, systems of labor, systems of identity, climate systems.
